552 Infantry Brigade troops of 55 Infantry Division of the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna coordinated and organized the distribution total Rs 604,665.00 worth school accessories, dry ration packs and 150 coconut saplings to 115 school children and 50 needy families in Vembodukerny Grama Niladari Division at Vembodukerny CCTM School premises on 08 April 2022.
The Donation programme was organized with the intention of enhancing the reconciliation programme in the Jaffna peninsula, as per the direction and leadership of the General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division, Brigadier MKUP Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG.
The distribution event was jointly supported by Commander 552 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier RP Munipura RWP RSP. Financial sponsorship, provided by Mr. Dinesh Fernando - Managing Director, Tropicoir Lanka Private Limited along with the National Mine Action Centre, Kilinochchi and all ranks of 552 Infantry Brigade 23rd Battalion Gemunu Watch and 1st Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment.
Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and distributed school accessories, coconut sapling and dry ration packs to beneficiaries in the presence of the sponsors.
During the same programme, Drug Prevention lecture and lecture on Explosive Ordinance were also conducted to school children of Wembadikerny CCTM School by officials of Divisional Secretariat Office, Pachchilai Pallei and National Mine Action Centre, Kilinochchi respectively.
Divisional Secretary for Pachchilai Pallei, General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division, Brigadier General Staff of Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna, Brigade Commanders of 551 and 552 Infantry Brigades, OIC, Pallai Police Station, Mr. Lalith Nishantha who represented Mr. Dinesh Fernando, Senior Officers, State Officials, School Children and their Family Members participated at the occasion.
