Troops of 512 and 513 Infantry Brigades under 51 Infantry Division conducted a series of 'Sharamadana' campaigns to beautify and to keep the religious places free from dengue mosquitoes in Jaffna peninsula on 09 December 2021.
This series of 'Sharamadana' campaigns were launched under the guidance of Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe, General Officers Commanding - 51 Infantry Division. During these programmes, Nallru Shivan Kovil at Nallru, South Indian Church at Chankanai and Periyavillan St Antony’s Church at Periyavillan were cleaned and beautified. Further, these programmes were closely supervised by Brigadier Suresh Coory ; Commander 512 Infantry Brigade and Brigadier Mohomed Fariz - Commander 513 Infantry Brigade in their respective areas.
Troops of 14th Battalion of Gajaba Regiment, 17th Battalion of Gemunu Watch, 11th Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 16th Battalion of Gemunu Watch took part in these programmes adhering to strict health guidelines stipulated by the Army Headquarters.
