In appreciation and recognition of the great humanitarian assistance of frontliners during the COVID-19 pandemic in Jaffna peninsula, a felicitation ceremony was organized at Army Holiday Resort, Kankasanthurei under the guidance of Commander Security Forces Jaffna and District Coordinator of COVID-19 Control and Prevention in Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu who graced the ceremony as the chief guest on 04 December 2021.
During the ceremony, 29 Medical Officers, 86 Public Health Inspectors and 210 midwives were awarded service appreciation certificates as they rendered their humanitarian assistance to save lives of Jaffna populace, beyond capacity despite all challenges towards their lives during the COVID - 19 pandemic.
Philanthropist and Chairman of the ‘Thyagie Charitable Trust’ Mr V Thyagendran, who had contributed generously towards the protection of Jaffna people from the pandemic was also facilitated. His daughter Miss Thyagendran accepted the memento on his behalf.
Mr. Kanapathipillai Maheshan, Government Agent in Jaffna, Dr. A. Ketheeswaran, Provincial Director of Health Services in Jaffna, Dr. P. Paraneetharan, Regional Epidemic, Dr.S.Sribavanandarajah , Deputy Director Teaching Hospital Jaffna, Dr. S Nithiyananda, MO Mental and Child Health and School Medical Officer, Dr. N Nicson Kamalarajan, MO Environmental and Occupational Health, Health Officers, Commander 51 Infantry Division, Commander FMA North, Senior officers and members of the Army were present during the event.
The certificate awarding event was followed by an interaction session and the lunch.
