The Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna proudly celebrated its 25th Anniversary on 18 June 2021 marking yet another milestone. In celebration of the Anniversary, a series of programmes were launched with the participation and the directions of the Commander Security Force (Jaffna) Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu.
Marking the formal beginning of Silver Jubilee Day’s Celebrations, an Alms Giving to Buddhist monks was held at Officers’ Mess. Nine Monks were conducted to the Officers’ Mess in a colourful procession which included flag - bearers, dancers and drummers. All officers and troops of SF (J) took part in the alms giving programme following the stipulated health guidelines.
Commemoration of fallen war heros of the Armed Forces who served under Security Force Headquarters Jaffna, was organized and floral tribute were offered to those heroes at the Palaly War Heroes' Monument with the participation of Senior Officers and Other Ranks along with the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu on 19th June 2021. This event was conducted under the strict health guidelines announced by the Army Headquarters.
In accordance with military traditions, the Commander Security Force (Jaffna) Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu graced the Anniversary day’s celebrations and on his arrival at the venue reviewed the Guard Turn Out, presented by 17th Battalion the Gamunu Watch (GW) troops and followed by the group photograph.
Further, to mark the 25th Anniversary, Commander Security Force (Jaffna) planted a mango sapling at Headquarters premises. Divisional Commanders of 51, 52 and 55, Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Admin and Quartering and Senior Officers were also present in the occasion.
Later, Commander Security Force (Jaffna), all Divisional Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers and other ranks attended to the all ranks tea at ORs’ mess. At the end of the tea party Commander addressed the troops and recalled the vital occurrences of the history of SF (J). Further, he commended the commitments and dedication of troops.
To coincide with the anniversary, a special Bodhi Pooja was held at the Security Force Headquarters Temple premises in the evening.
