Social Care Project carried out by the Troops of the 51 Infantry Division at Kopay, Jaffna

Troops of the Headquarters of 51 Division serving under the Security Force headquarters Jaffna organized a series of road cleaning programs aiming Dengue prevention, Parthenium Hysteropaorus eradication and prevention of road accident which is abundance in the area due to dense vegetation over grown covering part of the roads in the peninsula. This particular action carried out by 100 soldiers covering part of the minor road running from Thirunelvely to Navathkiri.

This social care project got underway under the guidance of the Commander Security Force Headquarters Jaffna, Major General Priyantha Perera and under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding of the 51 Division. The initiative was highly welcome and appreciated by the Government Agent/ District Secretary of the Jaffna District too.

The project was carried out under the strict COVID prevention precautions. The social care project was highly valued and appreciated by the residence of the area and the people who are using the road. Some civilians attended to the project by employing their own Backhoe loaders to support the troops. Some civilians provided the troops with refreshments.
