Sinhala and Hindu New Year festival was organized by the Security Force Headquarters Jaffna to symbolize the cultural unity between the communities, co-operation and harmony among soldiers on 14 April 2021 at the playground, Security Force Headquarters under the guidance of Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu Commander Security Force - Jaffna. The officers and soldiers serving under the Security Force Headquarters Jaffna hands together to celebrate the auspicious events, giving prominence to the traditional New Year Games and other associated events.
The event was organized for soldiers who stayed away from their families and loved once due to official commitments during the festival period. Troops enthusiastically took part in many events and exhibited cohesion among them. Varieties of valuable prizes were presented to the winners and participants who took part in the events.
“Avurudu Kumaraya” and “Avurudu Kumariya” pageants were held as part of the programme and added extra glamour to the event. Security Force Commander graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Commander Security Force Jaffna and several senior officers awarded the gifts and prizes to the winners in different events and competitions.
Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North), Senior Officers, Officers and Troops under command to the Security Force were also present in the New Year’s Day celebrations.
