Unity in Celebration: Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival at Doryappa Stadium

The New Year festival programme of the Security force Headquarters Jaffna held at Doryappa stadium under the guidance of Maj Gen Manada Yahampath the Commander Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna. Maj Gen Nishantha Mutumala General Officer Commanding the 51 Infantry Division and Maj Gen Sasika Perara General Officer Commanding 52 Infantry Division hosted a grand New Year festival on the 6 April 2025. This colourful event brought together people from all corners of the country North, South, East and West through a series of traditional and New Year games that captured the spirit of unity and joy. The festival grounds were filled with laughter, vibrant costumes and the sounds of cultural harmony, reflecting the deep rooted connections between different Sri Lankan communities.

Maj Gen Manada Yahampath Commander Security force Headquarters Jaffna Graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, Gest of honour was Mr M Pradeepan District Secretary of Jaffna along with many other distinguished civil and military dignitaries. Their presence highlighted the strong bond between communities and the armed forces in fostering goodwill and lasting peace. The event culminated in a dazzling musical show, adding a touch of glamour and rhythm to the day’s festivities, leaving every heart filled with joy and hope for a prosperous New Year.
