Keeping with the noble concept that ‘sports develop both the body and mind of a person’, the 4th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, serving under 52 Infantry Division and 521 Infantry Brigade, organized a football tournament from 19 to 25 November 2023.
10 teams representing each Divisional Secretariats participated in the preliminary round matches and Samarabahu Newton Sports Club and Vadiri Diamond Sports Club representing Karaveddi Divisional Secretariat qualified for the final. The final encounter between both teams was held on 04 February 2024 at Collins Sports ground and Vadiri Diamond Sports Club won the Championship trophy.
General Officer Commanding, 52 Infantry Division, Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndupsc. Divisional Secretary - Point Pedro, Assistant Police Inspector - Point Pedro, Presidents of Trade Associations, Grama Niladhari, Presidents of sport clubs and more than 100 civilians witnessed the tournament.
