To coincide with the National War Heroes Week, troops of 553 Infantry Brigade in collaboration with the Coconut Cultivation Board and the Forest Department launched a tree planting programme inside the 553 Infantry Brigade premises on 25 October 2021.
This tree planting campaign was launched on the instructions of General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division and the close supervision of Brigade Commander 553 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Rohan Jayakody RWP USP. More than 200 saplings including Coconut, Mee, Bullet-wood, Jamun, Kumbuk and Jack were planted during the event.
Commanding Officers of under command battalions, Staff Officers of 553 Infantry Brigade, also attended at the event.
