Security Forces Jaffna Organizes a Variety of Events to Celebrate Vesak Commemorations

In celebration of the 2567th Vesak Full Moon Day, Security Forces (Jaffna) organized a series of events under the conceptual guidance of Major General Swarna Bothota, the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) to uplift the religious harmony, fostering relationships and cooperation between the Tamil community and troops.

The events commenced with a Dhamma Sermon at the Headquarters premises followed by a Jackfruit Dansala at T - Junction for people residing in the area. On May 5th and 6th, The 7th Battalion Sri Lanka Army Women’s’ Corps organized a Manioc Dansala. On the same day the 3rd Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps organized a Chickpea Dansala and an exquisite display of Vesak lanterns was showcased in front of the unit. The distribution of Bellimal (Herbal Tea) and Roti (Flatbread) on 7th May, was another initiative by the 3rd Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps. Adding glamour in to the day’s specialty, Army Farm, which is under the administration of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) organized Bellimal (Herbal Tea) Dansala.

Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and a considerable number of civilians participated in these events.
