The 55 Infantry Division of the Security Forces Jaffna spearheaded the Clean Sri Lanka Project, marking a significant milestone at KN/Murugananda College in Murasumoddai, Kilinochchi. The project focused on enhancing infrastructure and promoting environmental sustainability. It highlights the vital role of community collaboration in improving educational facilities and fostering a cleaner, greener environment.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander of Security Forces Jaffna, as the Chief Guest, and Mr. S. Muralitharan, District Secretary of Kilinochchi, as the Guest of Honour. The project was carried out under the guidance of Major General Yahampath, with supervision by Major General BGS Fernando USP Hdmc psc, the General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division.
The key activities included tree planting to enhance the campus’s greenery, repairing and renovating desks and chairs to improve classroom facilities, and a thorough cleaning campaign to ensure a hygienic learning environment. These efforts aim to not only improve the educational space but also promote environmental awareness among students and the local community.
The event also saw the participation of Mr. T. Pirunthakaran, Divisional Secretary of Kandawalai, Mr. A. Sivanarulraja, Zonal Education Director of Kilinochchi North, Major General WAUS Wanasekara RWP USP, Deputy General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division, Brigadier WAIS Mendis RSP USP, and Commander of the 553 Infantry Brigade, as well as senior officers, principles, teachers, students, and parents.
This initiative highlights the strong collaboration between the military, education sector, and local community in driving development and sustainability, ensuring a brighter and healthier future for the next generation.
