The Sri Lanka Army, throwing its full weight behind the national tree planting campaign synchronizing the retirement of District Secretary of Jaffna Mr. A. Sivabalasundran, launched a project to plant ‘Tamarind Trees’ along the roadside of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna).
On the instructions of the Jaffna Commander, Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc MA (IR) an inaugural ceremony was held at T - Junction, with the participation of Mr. A. Sivabalasundran and other officials representing the office of the Divisional Secretaries on Friday, 08th March. Mr. A. Sivabalasundran and Jaffna Commander symbolically planted a tamarind plant and posed for a group photograph. During the ceremony, Jaffna Commander emphasized that this project will be continued up to Kadduwan enabling future generation to obtain the natural breeze of tamarind trees.
Further,Mr. A. Sivabalasundran gave his compliments for inaugurating a project in this nature and appraised the long term vision of the Jaffna Commander. At last, the Jaffna Commander handed over a letter of appreciation to Mr. A. Sivabalasundran for the highest level of cooperation and support extended in all administrative matters as the District Secretary of Jaffna.
