Reopening of Vasavilan - Palaly Road after 34 Years

In a significant development for local mobility and regional connectivity, the Vasavilan–Palaly Road, which had remained closed for 34 years due to security concerns, was officially reopened to the public at 0600 hours on 10 April 2025. This long-awaited reopening follows continuous appeals from residents of the region who have long sought access to the road for personal and economic reasons.

The road, which traverses a designated high-security zone and several military establishments, has been reopened under stringent security protocols to ensure both public safety and national security. At the entrance of the road, a prominently displayed notice board outlines the regulations in place, with a clear warning that any violation of these guidelines will result in legal action.

According to the newly issued directives, the road will remain open daily from 0600 to 1700 hours. All travelers are required to carry valid identification and be prepared to verify their identity upon request. Importantly, pedestrian and bicycle access along the route is strictly prohibited. Only passenger buses and light vehicles are allowed, while heavy vehicles—excluding buses—are banned from entering the road.

Furthermore, the regulations strictly prohibit stopping, turning, parking, photography, or videography at any point along the route. A maximum speed limit of 40 km/h has been enforced to maintain a smooth and secure flow of traffic.

This reopening marks a milestone in balancing the interests of national security with the needs of the local population. Authorities urge all road users to adhere strictly to the guidelines in order to ensure the safe and sustainable use of the Vasavilan–Palaly Road.
