It has been observed that due to excessive amount of illicit drug transportation, at present the young generation have been severely addicted to drugs. Accordingly, as per the conceptual guidance of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu a task force is to be established to prevent the usage of illicit drugs. The newly established task force conduct continuous search missions and prevent from accessibility of drugs in to Jaffna area, arrest people who possess, transport and selling illicit drugs.
A boat has been arrested by an investigation team of 16th Battalion Gamunu Watch of 513 Infantry Brigade under command to 51 Infantry Division with 100 kg cannabis on 22 October 2022 at J 150 Madagal (East) and further investigations are in progress at Special Task Force (Jaffna).
