Officer Cadets’of Sri Lanka Military Academy Visit Jaffna

The Officer Cadets Intake 92 A, 93B, and SC 21 of Sri Lanka Military Academy visited the Security Forces (Jaffna) on 30 and 31 May 2024. This visit was a part of their course curriculum, designed in order gain first hand exposure to understand the function of field formations. On behalf of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General MGWWWMCB Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, officer cadets were warmly welcomed by the Colonel General Staff, Colonel SDKWMMI Weliwita RWP RSP USP psc.

The visiting delegation consisted with 227 Local Officer Cadets and 10Foreign Officer Cadets representing, Kenya, Zambia, Gambia and Uganda. General Staff Officer 2 (Operations), Major C Weerathunga psc SLAC, given a comprehensive briefing on Jaffna Peninsula, Origin and Development of the Security Forces (Jaffna), Role and Task and activities for Military Aid to Civil Community.Subsequently,the senior most officer cadet presented a memento toBrigadier Admin and Quartering, Brigadier AK Weerasinghe UPS, as a token of appreciation and followed by Security Forces presented a memento to mark the visit of Security Forces (Jaffna).

During the visit, delegation mainly visited Thalsewana Army Resort, Jaffna Town, Jaffna Fort, Jaffna Library, General Denzil Kobbakaduwa Memorial, CIMIC Park - 51 Division, Dambakola Patuna, Sangupitiya Bridge, War Heroes Monument - EPS and Monument -Kilinochchi.

The visiting delegation also had a rare opportunity to have an interacting session followed by dinner with Staff Officers of Security Forces (Jaffna) at the Thalsewana Army Resort.
