The 26th Anniversary of 55 Infantry Division falls on 20 December 2022. In view of the Anniversary, the distribution of 100 nutritional food packs for the expectant mothers had taken place at the Division, marking yet another community programme on 17 December 2022. The expectant mothers from well-deserved families in Kevil, Vettalaikerny, and Maradankerni had invited to the programme.
The Officers and Other Ranks had participated in this commendable act towards their own citizens in the Jaffna District, demonstrating their compassion for the Tamil population. Reverend Father Amal Raj, the Head Priest of Saint Mary’ s Church Kaddaikadu and the General Officer Commanding Major General Prasanna Gunaratne were the guiding pillars of this benevolence event.
During the time set out for refreshments, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne had the opportunity for cordial conversations with the expectant mothers.
The Kovil priest of Vettalaikerny Pullayar Iyar Kananada, Grama Niladare Mrs Denshiya, President of Differently-abled Committee in Kilinochchi Mr N Shiwayogaraja and the President of Kovil Village Development Mr S Jeewakumara had also attended besides the participation of Staff Officers and Other Ranks of the Division.
