After assuming duties, the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe paid his homage to the Chief Monk of the Nagadeepa Purana Raja Maha Vihara and trustee authorities of Sri Nagapooshani Amman Kovil, Nainativu Islands in order to receive blessings of his most hallowed places of worship on 01 March 2024.
During the stay, Jaffna Commander received blessings, participated in the almsgiving held monthly, called on the monk and shared thoughts of the development work around the sacred precincts. The monk highlighted the requirement of having a water purification plant.
Followed by receiving blessings of trustee authorities of Sri Nagapooshani Amman Kovil, shared thoughts with them. There, they requested to assist to develop the existing museum and to re - construct tub at shallow sea for the devotees to bath before entering to the Kovil.
Then, Jaffna Commander expressed to forward an in writing including the requirements in order to discuss with the Commander of the Army to obtain his blessings. Prior to exit from the temple, he left a few thoughts in the Visitors’ Book at the temple and had a brief discussion with local and foreign devotees.
