Under the visionary leadership of Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander Security Force - Jaffna, and the guidance of Major General BGS Fernando USP Hdmc psc, General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division, the first phase of the "Clean Sri Lanka" programme was successfully carried out at Sri Vigneswaram College, Poonaryn, on 20th February 2025.
This initiative, aimed at cleaning school premises and repairing unusable furniture and equipment, was supervised by Brigadier CD Welagedara USP IG, Brigade Commander of the 552 Infantry Brigade. Troops from the 552 Infantry Brigade and 22 VIR actively participated in the project alongside the school principal, teachers, parents, and students.
Adding further significance to the event, Colonel TBMR Kandekumbura RSP USP, Commander of the 551 Infantry Brigade, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
This community-driven effort highlights the military’s commitment to fostering better educational environments and contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable Sri Lanka.
