Giving a further boost to the ongoing national vaccination project carried out by the Army and sister services across the country, Medical Teams and Troops of 4th Battalion Medical Corps Sri Lanka Army start the vaccination program for the general public of Jaffna District amidst the ongoing strike of health workers in health sector.
Accordingly, new Community Vaccination Centers, set up at 19 places covering the area of Jaffna, Chankanai, Sandilipay, Velani, Uduvil, Kopay, Maruthankerny, Nallur, Thelippalei, Chavakachcheri and started the vaccination of civilians over 60 years of age in the Jaffna peninsula from Monday 05 July 2021. So far, 24,182 people were vaccinated during last three days.
This programme is being carried out under the supervision of the Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu Commander Security Force (Jaffna) and District Coordinator - COVID - 19 Control and Prevention in Jaffna, under the guidance of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID - 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) headed by General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of the Defence Staff and Commander of the Army.
