With the intention of promoting reconciliation and goodwill among communities in Jaffna peninsula, the troops of Security Forces Jaffna celebrated the ‘Deepavali’ which is one of the biggest and auspicious festival celebrated by Hindu all around the globe.
A ceremony to mark Deepavali was held at Maruthanarmadam Aanjaneyar Kovil by Jaffna troops in the presence of Hindu devotees and Army personnel on 04 November 2021.
Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces Jaffna graced the festival as the chief guest on the invitation of the Major General MGWWWMCB Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding, 51 Infantry Division and together distributed gift parcels for the school children and a group of blind people in the area marking the event.
Brigade Commander of 511 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officers of respective Battalions, Government Officials, Religious leaders were also present the ceremony.
