Indian Peace Keeping Force War Heroes Commemorated in Jaffna

Fallen War Heroes of the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) during the 'Operation Pawan' and other operations against LTTE terrorists during the period from 1987 to 1990 in Sri Lanka were commemorated and their sacrifices were remembered at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) Monument in Palaly on 15 August 2021 to coincide with the 75th Independence Day of India.

Security Force HQ-Jaffna in collaboration with the office of Consul General of India in Jaffna, organized the event. The Consul General of India in Jaffna, Mr. Shri Raakesh Natraj and the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu paid tribute to the memory of fallen IPKF War Heroes placing floral wreaths at the IPKF Monument during the brief and solemn ceremony.

Senior Army Officers, Officials in the Consulate General of India in Jaffna and a representative group of Jaffna troops were also attended the solemn ceremony following the strict health guidelines stipulated by the Army Headquarters.
