As per the concept of General Officer Commanding, 51 Infantry Division, Major General S W B Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndc and under the guidance of the Commander, 512 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier, M P S P Kulasekara WWV RWP RSP, the troops of 17th Battalion the Gemunu Watch was able to complete a house within three months and handed over the newly constructed house to a family of four children on 23 December 2023.
Durayappah Family living in Canada has initiated necessary action to organize the required funds with the facilitation of Vanni Aid (INGO). This was the 772 house constructed by Jaffna troops.
Members of the Durayappah family, General Officer Commanding, 51 Infantry Division, Major General S W B Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndc, Commanding Officer 17th Battalion the Gemunu Watch, Major M S A Wijedasa RSP psc, representatives of other senior officers of Sri Lanka Army, troops and civilians of the village attended the opening ceremony.
