In a heartfelt initiative to support a needy family in Thelippalei, Jaffna, Major General MPNA Muthumala USP psc, General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division, ceremoniously laid the foundation stone for a new house in the J/239 Kadduwan (West) GN Division on 15 February 2025. The event was meticulously organized by Colonel KD Gothatuwa RWP RSP, Commander of the 511 Infantry Brigade, and Major PLA Wickramasinghe SLLI, Commanding Officer of the 9th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry, under the guidance of Major General Muthumala.
This noble endeavor is being supported by Major General Ravi Rathnasingham (Retd), who coordinated generous donors and pledged financial sponsorship for the construction. The dedicated troops of the 9th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry will undertake the building work, ensuring the family receives a stable and secure home.
The foundation stone-laying ceremony was honored by the presence of Major General MPNA Muthumala as the Chief Guest. The event was further graced by the participation of the Commander 511 Infantry Brigade, senior officers, officers, other ranks, family members, and local villagers, who gathered to celebrate this significant step towards community welfare.
This initiative exemplifies the unwavering commitment of the Sri Lanka Army to supporting underprivileged communities and fostering social harmony through meaningful humanitarian projects.
