Implementing the concept of extending community assistance to necessitous families, the foundation stone was laid by Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) for the construction of another new house for the family of Mr. Selvarathnam Jayapratha resided in Thunnalai, Point Pedro on 20 September 2022 amidst the religious blessings according to Hindu rituals.
This programme was organized as per the concept of Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division Major General Prasana Gunarathne and the directions of General Officer Commanding 551 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Asela Wikramasinghe.
The troops of 16 Light Infantry Regiment provided manpower for the construction of the new house and financial contribution is provided by Retired Major General Ravi Rathnasingham and his family friends along with the coordination of Modara - Mattakkuliya Lions Club. End of the foundation laying ceremony, the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) donated a dry ration pack for the deserving family and essential school items for school children in the area.
Brigade Commanders of 551, 552 and 553 Infantry Brigades, Commanding Officers of all Units, Assistant Divisional Secretary of Karaveddy, Grama Niladhari of the respective area, members of Modara - Mattakkuliya Lions Club, Army personnel and Civilians of General Area were also participated during the ceremony.
