General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division Brigadier M K U P Gunaratna RSP ndu psc IG was promoted to the Rank of Major General on 18th May 2022 after completion of 33 years and five months of a military career and a felicitation ceremony was held on 22 May 2022. For this ceremony all Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and troops under command of the 55 Infantry Division attended the event.
During this event 55 Infantry Division hosted a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour to the newly promoted Major General M K U P Gunaratna RSP ndu psc IG. Thereafter, General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division planted a mango sapling to mark this occasion. Subsequently, General Officer Commanding addressed troops who participate in this remarkable event and after end of the event all officers attended a group photograph. Finally, all officers and other ranks of the 55 Infantry Division were offered a tea party.
