In appreciation of valuable social commitment and distinguished service rendered to the people of Jaffna and Kilinochchi, Major General MGWWWMCB Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, the Commander of Security Forces (Jaffna), was honoured by the People of Jaffna and Kilinochchi at the Valampuri Hotel – Jaffna on 19 November 2023.
Upon arrival the Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) was warmly welcomed by Mr. Nagalingam Vethanayahan - Honourable Governor of the Northern Province and the members of the organizing committee at the entrance of the Hotel.
The function commenced with religious rituals of Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and Catholic priests followed by the National Anthem, lighting of the traditional oil lamp, welcome speech and welcome dance.
Subsequently a song was released which was specially produced to honour the valuable social commitment and distinguished service rendered to the people of Jaffna and Kilinochchi by the Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe. The day’s function added colour for the day with performances including songs, cultural dances, traditional dances and speeches by dignitaries of Jaffna and Kilinochchi in order to admire the service rendered by the Jaffna Commander.
At the end of the ceremony, mementoes were presented to the Jaffna Commander by the Civil community, Business community and the Government services in order to appreciate the great service rendered to them.
Mr. Nagalingam Vethanayahan - Honourable Governor of the Northern Province graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Religious leaders, Mr. M Piratheepan - the District Secretary of Jaffna, Mr. L Illaangovan - Chief Secretary of the Northern Provincial Council, Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP - General Officer Commanding of 51 Infantry Division, Senior Military and Police Officers, Government Representatives along with people of the Jaffna and Kilinochchi were present at the occasion.
