In a heartwarming initiative aimed at empowering the future generation, the 51 Infantry Division, under the strategic guidance and visionary leadership of Major General MPNA Muthumala USP psc, General Officer Commanding of 51 Infantry Division, organized a school bag and book donation programme at Jaffna Namashivay Vidyalaya. This initiative, part of their ongoing Civil-Military Cooperation activities, was supported by the 14th Gajaba Regiment under the supervision of the 512 Infantry Brigade, and held on 19th June 2025. The event benefitted 40 school children from low-income families, providing them with school bags and books a meaningful step toward brighter educational journeys. The presence of the Divisional Secretary of Jaffna, government officials, dedicated teachers, and supportive parents added to the community spirit and significance of the occasion. This thoughtful gesture not only offered material support but also inspired hope and motivation among young learners.
The event was further dignified by the presence of Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) who graced the occasion as the chief guest on special invitation from the General Officer Commanding, 51 Infantry Division. His presence underscored the Army's deep commitment to the well-being and development of the civilian population in the Northern Province. Financial sponsorship for the initiative was generously provided by Mr. R. Bhaskaran, owner of the Rio ice cream, Jaffna, Ms. V. Nidusha at Jaffna university and Mr. T. Mohanaras, owner of Thenu Food City, Jaffna, reflecting the power of public private partnerships in nation building. With acts like these, the 51 Infantry Division continues to strengthen bonds with local communities, fostering unity, hope, and a stronger future for the children of Jaffna.
