Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) Visit 55 Infantry Division and it’s Under Command Brigades

Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, the newly-appointed Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) made his first official visit to Headquarters, 55 Infantry Division on 03 January 2025. He was warmly welcomed by Major General BGS Fernando USP Hdmc psc, the General Officer Commanding and Staff following the military traditions and customs.

The Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) participated in a series of events at Headquarters, 55 Infantry Division premises including a briefing by the General Officer Commanding on role and task and duties carried out by the Division, group photograph and troop address.

In conjunction with the visit, the Jaffna Commander visited 551 Infantry Brigade area including War Hero’s Memorial and CIMIC Park – Kilinochchi. He then visited the Headquarter, 553 Infantry Brigade at Vishwamadu and its area of responsibility.

Afterwards, the Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) participated in handing over the keys of a newly constructed house to the deserving families in Pallikuda, Pooneryn and vested the house to the beneficiary, Mrs. Tharsika Neranjan and family amidst religious blessings. The house was constructed as part of the ongoing housing project of the Security Forces (Jaffna), under the direction of General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division, supervision of Commander, 552 Infantry Brigade by the troops of 22nd Battalion, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. Concluding the day’s visit, the Jaffna Commander visited Headquarters, 552 Infantry Brigade and its area of responsibility. In all the places, he made his complimentary notes in the Visitors’ Book to mark the first official visit.

Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces (Jaffna) along with Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks serving under 55 Infantry Division took part in these events.
