Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) Attends World Buddhist Sangha Youth 20th General Conference and World Alliance of Buddhist 5th General Conference at Jaffna

Illuminating Jaffna and Northern Province to the world, the 20th General Conference of the World Buddhist Sangha Youth was held at Nagadeepaya Rajamaha Viharaya in Nainativu Island on 22 June and the 5th General Conference of the World Alliance of Buddhist was held at Valampuri Hotel in Jaffna on 23 June 2024. Major General MGWWWMCB Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), attended both occasions as a distinguished guest.

The delegation along with the Venerable Theros, attended the evening chanting at the Sri Naga Viharaya, Jaffna on 21 June by keeping the first step of the visit to the Jaffna peninsula. The Chief Incumbent of Sri Nagavihara Temple and the Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna), warmly welcomed the delegation to the Jaffna.

During the conference, the Security Forces Commander had the honour of addressing the Venerable Thero, the delegation, and distinguished guests. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the officers of Presidential Secretariat, the Acting District Secretary of Jaffna, Mr. M Piratheepan and the Secretary of General of the World Buddhist Sangha Youth, Most Venerable Mugunuwela Anuruddha Thero for their invaluable guidance. Additionally, he extended his gratefulness, to the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, for his direction and instructions, which were crucial in ensuring the security forces’ assistance in successfully conducting the event as planned.

A delegation comprised 37 Thero and 201devotees from24 countries, including representatives from Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam. This event serves as a message to the world that Sri Lanka is a country enjoying peace and stability.

The Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) Major General MGWWWMCB Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, and the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral AAAR Abeysinghe RSP USP ndc psc gave their untiring support in collaboration with the District Secretariat (Jaffna) until the delegation departed the Jaffna Peninsula.
