Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) Assumes Office

Major General KAN Rasika Kumara ndc psc assumed office as the 33rd Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

Upon his arrival, the Senior Officer was honored with a Guard Turnout by the 5 Engineer Service Regiment, followed by a Guard of Honour from the troops of the 10 Field Engineer Regiment. The newly appointed Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) then officially took over his duties amid the chanting of 'Seth Pirith' by members of the Maha Sangha, in the presence of clergy from various religious backgrounds. He signed an official document to mark the acceptance of his new role.

To commemorate this occasion, Major General KAN Rasika Kumara planted a sapling and posed for a group photograph with the troops, subsequently paying floral tribute at the Palaly War Heroes’ Monument in remembrance of the fallen heroes.

Following these ceremonies, Major General KAN Rasika Kumara addressed the assembled troops, emphasizing the critical importance of maintaining discipline within the ranks, balancing military and personal life, and managing one's salary.

After an All-Ranks’ tea, the new Commander briefed his expectations to the under-command officers, culminating the day's events. Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks participated in the day's activities.
