Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) Assumes Office

Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, assumed office as the 32nd Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) on Friday, 20 December 2024.

Upon arrival, the Senior Officer was accorded a Guard Turnout followed by Guard of Honour by the troops of 11th Battalion, Sri Lanka Light Infantry. Then, the newly appointed Commander formally took over duties amidst the chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the Maha Sangha and in the presence of multi-religious clergy, signing an official document to mark the acceptance of his new role.

Following this, he posed for a few group photographs and planted a sapling on the premises before paying floral tribute to the Palaly War Heroes’ Monument in remembrance of fallen War Heroes.

Furthermore, he addressed the troops and during that he commended the brave effort and exemplary performance of Sergeant Dinesh Kumara WDI of 7th Battalion, Sri Lanka Light Infantry to prevent the robbery that was about to occur near his camp on 28 November by presenting a gift.

During the All-Ranks’ tea, Officers’ and Other Ranks had an opportunity to wish new commander and also to chat with him. Finally, the new Commander held a conference and briefed his expectations of under command Officers culminating the day’s event.
