A Chess Training workshop Initiated for Troops of Jaffna

A five day chess Training workshop for troops of Jaffna was conducted under the guidance of commander Security Forces Jaffna. Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu at the premises of Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna from 7th March 2022 to 11th March 2022.

This chess training programme was initiated at Security Forces Jaffna, under the close supervision of Chairman, Army Chess Committee, Major General Swarna Bothota. 22 soldiers attended for this workshop and they were educated on the chess games.

End of the 5 days training Session, Chess competition was conducted among the students. Pte Viduranga GR of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Regiment won the 1st in order of merit, while Pte Rathnayake RMTS of the 12th Battalion Gamunu Watch and Pte Gimhana GGMT of the 3th Sri Lanka Signals Corps respectively won the 2nd and 3rd places.

At end of the workshop closing address of programme was held at security Forces Headquarters Jaffna and Brigadier General Staff of security Forces Jaffna, Brigadier Sashika Perera graced the occasion as the chief guest and wieners of the chess competition warder the presents by the chief gust. Staff Officers of the Security Forces Jaffna, Officers and Senior Non Commission Officers of the Security Forces Jaffna also attended.
