Army Vested a New Home for a Family in Jaffna

Troops of the Security Forces (Jaffna) once again extended their technical, engineering and manpower support to build a new house to another underprivileged family in Uduththurai, Kaddaikadu after their plight was brought to the notice of Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, Commander Security Force (Jaffna).

The handing over ceremony of the newly built house to Mrs. Vijayakanthan Vasanthakumari, a widowed mother to three daughters, was held with the gracious presence of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) amid a brief ceremony held on 27 September 2022.

This new house was built under the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG and the financial contribution was provided by Mr. Vish Nadaraja. The troops belonged to 12th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment provided much-required manpower for the construction work under the guidance of Commander 553 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Rohan Jayakodi RWP USP.

During the brief ceremony, dry ration packs and essential household items required for the newly built house were donated by the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna). Further, in the same occasion stationary items were also distributed for the children of the area.

Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna), Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officer Naval Base Vetthilaikeny, Senior Officers, Government Officials, beneficiaries and their family members and troops of the Security Forces (Jaffna) were presented at the event.
