Adverse weather caused a part of the Pallawarayankaddu tank bund in Kilinochchi district to collapse on 14 December 2024, threatening Pallawarayankaddu village with potential flooding.
Under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division and the supervision of Brigadier CD Welagedara IG, Brigade Commander 552 Infantry Brigade, 02 x 20 troops from the 2 Sri Lanka National Guard, along with villagers, acted swiftly to renovate the collapse bund with sandbags.
The collaborative effort aimed to protect and safeguard farmland from further damage. This timely intervention provided immediate relief to the affected community.
