Troops of 4th Battalion Medical Corps in coordination with the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) Jaffna established 9 other static vaccination centers in Chanakanai, Chavakachcheri, Jaffna, Kopay, Maruthankerny, Nallur, Sandilipay, Tellipalai and Uduvil areas to further intensify the ongoing vaccination drive this morning while launching a mobile vaccination programe for elderly people above the age of 60, sick, handicapped and feeble sections in Jaffna peninsula.
This timely vaccination drive was launched by the troops of Security Forces (Jaffna) under the supervision of Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) and District Coordinator COVID - 19 Control and Prevention in Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu with the guidance of General Shavendra Silva, Head of National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army.
People of Jaffna peninsula eagerly received their jabs from these centers today to save their lives. This initiative was taken by Commander Security Forces Jaffna to slow down the pandemic and put the Jaffna peninsula on track for a robust recovery.
This is once again testimony to prove that the Army has become the umbilical link that protects the lives of people in Jaffna.
The programme will be continued until the entire elderly population of the Jaffna peninsula is inoculated.
