Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, inaugurated a newly constructed house for a deserving family in Dharmapuram, Kilinochchi on 25 August 2024. The ceremony, enriched with religious rites and rituals, marked the completion of this vital project and housewarming.
The initiative was commenced following the conceptual layout of the Commander of the Army and troops from the 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) and 14 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) extended their manpower and technical expertise for the project.
Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna), provided much required guidance for the project and Major General R.K.N.C Jayawardena RSP ndc, General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division supervised the project. Colonel W.A.I.S Mendis RSP USP, Commander, 553 Infantry Brigade, directed troops accordingly and assured the completion within the allocated period of time.
Financial support for the project was generously provided by Mr. Nihal Dharmabandu and his family.
Before the culmination of the event, the Army Chief posed for a group photograph with the beneficiary and his family.
