553 Infantry Brigade Organize a Soft Ball Cricket Tournament to Enhance the Comradeship Within Soldiers

With the broad concept of a healthy soldier, a robust mentality physical fitness and to enhance the cohesion and comradeship among troops, a soft ball cricket tournament was organized for 553 Infantry brigade troops at brigade headquarters recently. On 10 and 11 February 2023, the softball cricket tournament was held by the 553 Infantry Brigade and under command elements with co-located Battalion Training School of the 55 Infantry Division. The event was organized under the guidance of Commander 553 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Janak Premathilake.

The preliminary matches were held on 10 February 2023. Teams of 553 Infantry Brigade and the Battalion Training School qualified for the finals. The team of Battalion Training School emerged as champions after a close encounter. S/Sgt Maduranga JMM of SLSC from Brigade team awarded as the man of the series and man of the match. Players received awards from Commander 553 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Janak Premathilake during the awarding ceremony.
