553 Infantry Brigade celebrated its 25th Anniversary on 19th July 2025 under the guidance of Colonel M P J Muthunayaka, Commander 553 Infantry Brigade. By giving prominence to religious observances, troops arranged a Hindu Kovil Puja program at Sri Sithi Vinayagar Hindu Kovil at Punnanirawi and a Bodi Puja Pinkama at the Camp premises, moreover conducted arms-giving ceremony for the Elders’ Home in Tharmapuram. On 19th July 2025, the Commander, 553 Infantry Brigade Colonel M P J Muthunayaka, was honoured with a Guard Turnout at the Brigade Headquarters premises by 6 SLSR troops.
The day’s event featured a sapling plant, Group Photographs, troops address and all-ranks Lunch. Concluding the Anniversary programme, on 20th July evening, a musical night was organized. The Brigade Commander, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of Headquarters 553 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the 6 SLSR and 14 SLNG were attend to this event.
