553 Infantry Brigade Inaugurates Newly Constructed Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess and Lays Foundation Stone for Lecture Hall

In a momentous occasion commemorating the 74th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, the 553 Infantry Brigade celebrated the inauguration of their newly constructed Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess on 14 October 2023. This significant development marks a substantial improvement for the Senior Non-Commissioned Officers of the brigade.The former mess was a semi-permanent structure, and there is a need to transform it into a permanent building with additional facilities. Brigadier Saman Perera RSP, the dedicated Commander of the 553 Infantry Brigade, recognizing the pressing need, took the initiative to improve the facilities. Under the wise guidance of Major General Nalin Jayawardena RSP ndc, the General Officer Commanding of the 55 Infantry Division, the transformation began.

Furthermore, an essential addition to the brigade's infrastructure, a lecture hall, was initiated on the same day. This lecture hall will play a pivotal role in enhancing the operational, training and administrative aspects of the brigade, providing an ideal environment for learning and knowledge sharing.

The grand opening ceremony of the Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess was graced by the presence of Major General Nalin Jayawardena RSP ndc, the General Officer Commanding of the 55 Infantry Division. During the event, he also laid the foundation stone for the much-awaited lecture hall.The occasion witnessed the gathering of esteemed Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and distinguished guests, underscoring the significance of these developments for the 553 Infantry Brigade and the Sri Lanka Army as a whole.

The newly inaugurated Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess, alongside the forthcoming lecture hall, mark a historic step forward in enhancing the infrastructure and facilities available to the brigade's dedicated troops. It is a testament to the commitment and vision of the brigade's leadership and an essential investment in the future of the Sri Lanka Army.
