Brigadier GSK Perera RSP from Commando Regiment assumed duties as the 20th Brigade Commander of the 553 Infantry Brigade under the Security Forcse Headquarters - Jaffna on 20th April 2023, during a simple ceremony with Buddhist religious observances at the 553 Infantry Brigade Headquarters, Periyapachchapalei.
A guard turnout was presented by the troops to welcome the new Brigade Commander. Afterwards, the Brigade Commander signed a formal document to signify his acceptance of the new office. Then he participated in a group photograph with brigade staff. He also planted a tree sapling to mark his assumption of duties, followed by a troop address and an All Ranks tea party.
Senior Officers including Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks serving under the 553 Infantry Brigadeattended the occasion.
