A series of well-cleaning and restoration programs aimed at ensuring access to safe drinking water for communities affected by severe weather conditions was carried out on 7 December 2025. The initiative was conducted under the leadership of the Headquarters of the 551 Infantry Division, operating under the 55 Infantry Division, with the manpower contribution of 01 with 15 soldiers from the 11 (Volunteer) Gajaba Regiment.
In addition, the Commander of the 55 Infantry Division, Major General Aruna Wijekoon USP ndc, visited the site of the A-35 road bridge at Kandaweli, which had been damaged during the recent severe weather. His visit focused on supervising the ongoing restoration work. During the inspection, he met with representatives and engineers from the Indian Army who are presently involved in constructing the new bridge.
Several key officials were also in attendance, including GA - Kilinochchi, Assistant Director of the DMC, RDA Engineer, Commander, 553 Infantry Brigade, Commander, Field Engineer Brigade, Commanding Officers of 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 9 Sri Lanka Engineers Regiment, along with other coordinating officers.
