Uplifting the sportsmanship among the youth in the northern area, 55 Infantry Division has organized a friendly soccer encounter between Jaffna and Kaddaikadu Youth Teams under the conceptual guidance of General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG on 10 September 2022 at Kaddaikadu Football Ground.
This match was staged to enhance and identify the skills of the talented youth of civil sports clubs in the respective areas. Further it was aimed to uplift the cohesion between the youth in the northern region and the Sri Lanka Army. Commander Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna), Major General Chandana Wijayasundera RSP USP ndu graced the event as the chief guest.
Jaffna Youth Team and Kaddaikadu Youth Team was sponsored by 51 Infantry Division and 55 Infantry Division respectively. Kaddaikadu Youth Team won this friendly encounter by 6-0 Goals. During the match both teams have shown exquisite performances. Awarding of trophies and prizes to the winners took place during the same evening, headed by Major General Chandana Wijayasundera RSP USP ndu, Commander Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna).
General Officer Commanding of 51 and 52 Divisions, Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North), Brigadier General Staff SFHQ (Jaffna), Brigade Commanders of 552 and 553 Infantry Brigades, Government Officials, Commanding Officers of respective battalions, troops in the Jaffna Peninsula and civilians in the area, were also participated in this event.
