The 55 Infantry Division proudly celebrated its 27th Anniversary at the Division Headquarters in Kilinochchi on 20th December 2023, marking a significant milestone in its illustrious history. The Division was raised on 20th December 1996 in Wanni theatre and had rendered its services to the motherland with utmost dedication over the years passed.
The anniversary celebrations commenced with a special 'Ashirvada Pooja' at the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya premises on 15th December 2023. Subsequently, on 20th December 2023, a series of events took place within the Divisional Headquarters. These included a troop address, All-Rank tea party and a multi-religious alms-giving programme. All Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers, and Other Ranks were present for the celebration.
