55 Infantry Division Initiates Another Housing Project for an Underprivileged Family in Nelliyadi

In a remarkable display of compassion and support for the community in Jaffna peninsula with the guidance of Major General SKR Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), 55 Infantry Division troops has embarked on another noble mission to construct a new home for a needy family in Alwai West, Thanbiyanpulam, in Nelliyadi. Under the guidance of General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, troops of 551 Infantry Brigade laid the foundation stone to erect another house with financial assistance provided by Ms. Thabitha Chinnaiah in memory of Joy Arulrajah, Son of Rev. MS Chinnaiah through Vanni Aids.

General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division graced the brief ceremony as the chief guest and Commander 551 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Jude Kariyakarawana RWP RSP USP, Mr Alvaipillai Siri Divisional Secretary Point Pedro, Mr. N Jeganadan representative of Vanni Aids (Canada), ASP Point Pedro, Government Ofiicials, Other invitees and civilians attended the event.

Troops of 4th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment provides much needed manpower and technical expertise for the construction of the house where the project is coordinated by Major General Ravi Rathnasigham (Retired), who has now coordinating many number of such community assisted projects for the betterment of the people in the area with coordination with Army troops.
