The 55 Infantry Division, which has diligently protected the nation, celebrated its 28th Anniversary on 20th December 2024, at its Headquarters in Kilinochchi.
The Anniversary proceedings began with a Bodhi Pooja at the Lumbini Temple in Kilinochchi on 18th December 2024. The following day, on 19th December 2024, featured a vibrant Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour accorded to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) at the Division Headquarters keeping in view of Military traditions by the troops of 6th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. The event continued with a Troops address by the GOC, followed by an All Ranks Lunch.
Additionally, on 21st December 2024, the Division Troops organized and provided a delicious meal to three Special-needs Children's Homes in Kilinochchi.
The Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Division and Under Command Brigades took part in the anniversary celebrations.
