In an inspiring demonstration of environmental responsibility, the Security Force Commander, Jaffna, spearheaded a project titled 'Revitalizing Beachfronts for Sustainability and Environment,' in line with the government’s theme, 'Beautiful Island and Smiling People.
On January 13, 2025, troops of the 55 Infantry Division and the 552 Infantry Brigade collaborated to clean a section of the Pallikudah beach in Poonaryn. This initiative, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, sought to transform the North-Western coastal line into a cleaner, more appealing destination.
The cleanup effort emphasized waste removal, natural beauty restoration, and fostering eco-awareness. Participants worked diligently to collect plastic waste, debris, and other pollutants, ensuring the beach remains a safe sanctuary for marine life, an inviting destination for visitors, and a healthier environment for local communities.
