Following a request from the Divisional Secretary of Point Pedro, Sri Lanka Army troops operating under the 521 Infantry Brigade has stepped up humanitarian assistance to the affected communities across the island following Cyclone Ditwah.
Responding swiftly, the troops assisted in the preparation and distribution of food through a designated safety centers, ensuring timely relief and essential care to displaced families and renovations of damaged public places.
In addition, the 521 Infantry Brigade is fully committed to supporting civil authorities throughout the disaster response operations and safeguarding the well-being of the affected populations, including cleaning wells to meet the water needs of the displaced in the area, and using water bowsers to meet drinking water needs.
