Troops of the 51 Infantry Division under Security Force Headquarters Jaffna continued their community assistance operations across the Jaffna Peninsula on 6 December 2025, marking the fourth consecutive day of sustained CIMIC oriented activities amidst the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah and the prevailing adverse weather conditions. All three brigades under command remained actively engaged in supporting affected communities through water distribution, well cleaning and restoration operations, religious site cleaning programmes and the rehabilitation of educational facilities across the Division area of responsibility.
Under the 511 Infanty Brigade, troops of the 9 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment continued to support flood affected civilians in Antonypuram Village, Palali North, where rainwater had accumulated in houses in the J 254 GN Division. A water bowser belonging to the battalion distributed purified drinking water to affected households from 1000 hrs to 1300 hrs, with 01 officer and 05 soldiers participating in the operation. Meanwhile, at Ayyanar Kovil, Kadduwan, where a large Banyan tree had fallen on 30 November 2025 causing partial damage to the roof structure, the battalion reported full completion of tree removal. The next phase, roof installation, is scheduled to commence shortly, with 01 officer and 07 soldiers engaged in preparatory tasks as at 6 December 2025.
Under the 512 Infanty Brigade, troops of the 14 Gajaba Regiment conducted a comprehensive cleaning programme at Meenachchi Amman Kovil, Koddadi, deploying 01 officer with 10 soldiers to restore the premises for community use. In parallel, another team of 01 officer with 10 soldiers from the same battalion carried out a cleaning operation along Meenachchi Amman Road, ensuring improved accessibility and sanitation in the surrounding area. Troops of the 17 Gemunu Watch Regiment continued their well restoration efforts in Ariyalai South East, successfully cleaning the third and fourth wells located at 12th Cross Lane and the wider Ariyalai area. Two teams, each comprising 01 officer with 10 soldiers, restored the wells to functional condition, ensuring the availability of clean and safe water for families who rely entirely on well water for their daily needs.
Under the 513 Infanty Brigade, troops of the 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment extended essential support to flood affected communities by restoring the Kaleivani Pre School premises at Wadaliappu, Pandathirippu. A team of 01 officer and 10 soldiers cleaned and rehabilitated the facility under the supervision of the Brigade, ensuring a safe and usable environment for children and staff as routine activities gradually resume.
As community assistance operations progressed into their fourth consecutive day, troops of the 51 Infantry Division continued to demonstrate persistent commitment to supporting local communities across the Jaffna Peninsula, systematically restoring essential services, uplifting community infrastructure and ensuring the wellbeing and safety of the civilian population as recovery efforts advanced throughout the region.
