Troops of the 51 Infantry Division under Security Force Headquarters Jaffna continued their community assistance operations across the Jaffna Peninsula on 12 December 2025, marking the ninth consecutive day of Division led CIMIC tasks supporting communities affected by the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah and the prevailing adverse weather conditions. All under command brigades remained fully committed to restoring essential services, rehabilitating community facilities and uplifting the daily living conditions of affected families across the Division area of responsibility.
Under the 511 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 15 Sri Lanka National Guard Battalion conducted a public well restoration programme in the J/200 Kandarodei GN Division, where 01 officer with 06 soldiers cleaned and restored a contaminated well ensuring the availability of safe water for families affected by floodwater ingress. In the J/254 Antonypuram area of Palali North, 01 officer with 05 soldiers of the 9 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment continued their ongoing humanitarian assistance by distributing clean drinking water to affected households using a battalion water bowser.
Under the 512 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 14 Gajaba Regiment carried out a major cleaning programme at the Sinna Mosque located in the J/87 Moor Street North GN Division. A team of 01 officer with 15 soldiers was employed to clean and restore the mosque premises which had been affected by the recent adverse weather, ensuring that the religious facility was fully prepared for community use.
Under the 513 Infantry Brigade, troops continued to support religious and community infrastructure restoration tasks. Troops of the 10 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment assisted the public in cleaning a church at J/226 Keeramalei Naguleshwaram, where 01 officer with 10 soldiers provided essential manpower to clear debris and restore the premises for local worshippers. In addition, troops of the 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment conducted a cleaning and restoration programme at Jengadevi Pre School in the J/174 Chullipuram GN Division, deploying 01 officer with 10 soldiers to rehabilitate the school premises and ensure a safe environment for children and staff.
As community assistance operations continued into their ninth consecutive day, troops of the 51 Infantry Division once again demonstrated commitment and resilience in supporting the people of the Jaffna Peninsula. The Division remains focused on restoring essential services, ensuring public safety and assisting in the wider community recovery effort following recent adverse weather conditions.
