In collaboration with the Urumpirai Junior Football Academy, 51 Infantry Division conducted an under 14 football tournamentat the playground of CIMIC Park, Headquarters, 51 Infantry Divisionon 6th and 7th July 2024 with the participation of 32 junior football teams, with eight teams advancing to the final round.
The final match took place on 14th July 2024 and Kilinochchi Eagle junior football team faces off against the Jaffna Gurunagar Senrock junior team with the Gurunagar Senrock team emerging as the Champions.
Major General WBJK Wimalarathna RWP RSP, the General Officer Commanding of 51 Infantry Division graced the finals as the Chief Guest and he awarded medals, trophies and cash price of Rs:50,000.00 to the Champions.
Additionally, the event honoured Mr. Sinna Mone Selvarathnam, an 80 years old renowned football player from Jaffna District, who was recognized by Major General WBJK Wimalarathna RWP RSP for his contribution to the sports.
This tournament aimed to foster positive relationships between the military and the civiliancommunity, under the guidance of Major General MGWWWMCB Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna).
